Virginia Nurse Practitioner Job Details
- Employment Type: Locum Tenens / PRN healthcare position
- Location: Chesapeake, VA
- Shifts per Week: 5 (part-time, flexible scheduling)
- Shift Duration: 8-hour field days (includes travel)
- Hours per Week: Part-time (minimum 4 full days/month required)
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $480 - $533 (per-assessment payment model)
- No-Show Payment: $25 per no-show (for providers with 10+ booked assessments/month)
- Travel Stipend: $60/day for gas and mileage
- Training Payment: $400 one-time payment upon becoming 'field ready'
- Travel: Daily travel to patient homes (up to 120 miles/day depending on territory)
- Start Date: September 17, 2025
- Contract Duration: 52 weeks

Nurse Practitioner Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in Virginia (ANCC, AANP, or AACN Board Certification required)
- Minimum 1 year of Nurse Practitioner experience (new graduates not eligible)
- Physician Assistant (PA) candidates accepted in Virginia (must have 1 year of PA experience and be Board Certified)
- Comfortable traveling independently to patient homes, including underserved and rural areas
- Adaptable to rural, urban, and suburban healthcare routes
- High tolerance for logistical unpredictability (route changes, no-shows, schedule changes)
- Strong commitment to patient care and a flexible, adventurous mindset
- Must provide own patient bag with basic medical tools
- Professional attire or dark-colored scrubs (no lab coats required)
Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities
- Perform annual in-home Health Risk Assessments for geriatric patients
- Conduct physical exams, medication reviews, and assess social/environmental factors
- Complete basic labs (e.g., A1C, fit tests – no blood draws required)
- Submit assessments via provided tablet (same-day submission required)
- Travel daily to assigned patient homes within a typical 60-mile radius
- Manage no-shows and last-minute cancellations professionally
- Maintain high quality scores and adhere to clinical documentation standards
- Coordinate with Operations Manager for monthly schedules and daily availability
- Participate in onboarding, training modules, and field support reviews
