Job Summary:
The Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Employee Health Services provides primary clinical oversight of employee health services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and preventive health services for Erlanger team members. Works collaboratively with Employee Health leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (OSHA, CDC, TJC) and organizational health standards.

A nurse practitioner is employed by Erlanger Health and is responsible for providing comprehensive occupational health services to Erlanger team members.
The employee must have strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively counsel and educate employees and collaborate with various stakeholders.
The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the occupational health needs of adult team members. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of occupational medicine principles, workplace injury assessment and management, and regulatory compliance requirements (OSHA, DOT, etc.). The nurse practitioner must possess the ability to assess data reflective of work-related health concerns, interpret diagnostic information, and identify each patient's requirements relative to their occupational health needs while providing care as described in the Employee Health Services protocols and organizational policies.

The Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Employee Health Services provides primary clinical oversight of employee health services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and preventive health services for Erlanger team members. Works collaboratively with Employee Health leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (OSHA, CDC, TJC) and organizational health standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform employee health evaluations, physicals, and return-to-work assessments.
- Diagnose and treat work-related injuries, illnesses, and exposures.
- Manage immunization and vaccination programs.
- Provide exposure follow-up and clearance (e.g., TB, bloodborne pathogens, COVID).
- Collaborate with HR, Infection Prevention, and Risk Management on employee health issues.
- Document all services in the EHR according to HIPAA and regulatory standards.
Required:
- Masters of Science degree in Nursing (MSN).

Required:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in occupational health, urgent care, or employee health experience.
- Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills; knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations; knowledge of current trends and new developments; knowledge of principles and practices of nursing, applicable to those areas requiring special education.

Required:
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee
- Licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in the state of Tennessee
- National certification in a specialty (such as ACNP, ANP, CCNS, FNP)
- Certificate of fitness from the state of Tennessee (as required by specialty)
- BLS completed prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward
Preferred:
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) or Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist (COHN-S) certification.
