Position Description

Job Summary

Homeland has partnered with a leading healthcare system known for its compassionate, high-quality care across hospitals and outpatient centers to hire an Oncology Nurse Practitioner (ONP). In this role, the Oncology Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive care to patients with cancer and hematologic conditions in an outpatient setting. Working closely with physicians and a multidisciplinary care team, the Oncology Nurse Practitioner will assess, diagnose, and manage patients throughout all stages of treatment. This position blends advanced clinical expertise with compassionate patient support, ensuring exceptional care for patients and their families throughout the oncology journey.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to oncology and hematology patients through assessment, diagnosis, and management of complex conditions
  • Triage patient calls and coordinate care with physicians, hospitals, home health, and hospice teams to ensure continuity of care
  • Evaluate and manage acute issues, including oncologic emergencies, chemotherapy side effects, and complications related to cancer
  • Conduct comprehensive histories, physical exams, and follow-up visits in collaboration with supervising physicians
  • Educate patients and families on chemotherapy, treatment plans, medication management, and side effects
  • Partner with social services, nurse navigators, dietitians, and other disciplines to deliver holistic, patient-centered care
  • Participate in hospital rounds and serve as a key liaison between inpatient and outpatient oncology services
  • Assist with chemotherapy administration and manage infusion-related emergencies when needed
  • Provide clinical education and serve as a resource for staff and the oncology care team
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with treatment protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, policy reviews, and committees such as the Commission on Cancer and Pharmacy & Therapeutics
  • Uphold and promote the mission, values, and patient care standards

Requirements

  • Must meet all educational standards required for Nurse Practitioner licensure and certification
  • Previous experience in oncology or hematology practice preferred
  • Current Nurse Practitioner certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) as an Adult, Family, or Acute Care NP
  • Must meet all State of Tennessee Nurse Practitioner licensure requirements
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification preferred

Additional Information

This position follows a Monday–Friday schedule with four 10-hour workdays. Weekend call is a requirement on a rotating basis.

Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary of $93,000–$120,000/year, based on experience, with relocation assistance if applicable.
