Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Internal Medicine)


Position Title:
Advanced Nurse Practitioner (APRN / FNP / AGNP)

Department: Clinical
Reports To: Medical Director / Supervising Physician Employment Type: [Full-Time / Part-Time] 

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM: Thursday closed 

Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and detail-oriented Advanced Nurse
Practitioner to join our Internal Medicine team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality
primary care to an adult and geriatric patient population. You will manage a panel of patients,
focusing on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, while
working collaboratively with our physicians to ensure continuity of care.


Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Care & Management

  • Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and compile detailed medical histories for
    new and returning patients.
  • Chronic Disease Management: Independently manage complex chronic conditions such
    as Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, COPD, CHF, and Thyroid disorders in accordance
    with current clinical guidelines.
  • Acute Care: Diagnose and treat acute common illnesses (e.g., respiratory infections,
    UTIs, musculoskeletal pain).
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests (labs, X-rays, EKGs) to identify health
    issues.
  • Prescribe medications, including controlled substances, and monitor patient adherence and side effects.

2. Patient Education ; Prevention

  • Counsel patients on preventative care, lifestyle modifications, diet, and weight
    management.
  • Educate patients regarding their diagnosis, treatment plans, and medication usage to
    improve compliance and health outcomes.
  • Administer vaccinations and recommend age-appropriate screenings (mammograms, colonoscopies, etc.).

3. Administrative ; Collaboration

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely patient records using our Electronic Medical
    Record (EMR) system [Insert EMR Name if known, e.g., eClinicalWorks, Epic].
  • Review incoming lab results and consultant reports, taking appropriate action.
  • Collaborate with the supervising physician on complex cases that require escalation.
     Coordinate care with specialists, home health agencies, and pharmacies.

Requirements ; Qualification

Education & Licensure

  • Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an
    accredited program.
  • Current and unrestricted license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in
    the State of Tennessee.
  • Board Certification from the AANP or ANCC (Family Nurse Practitioner FNP or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner AGNP preferred).
  • Active DEA Registration license (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Current BLS/ACLS certification. 

Experience

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred (Internal Medicine or Primary Care setting is a plus). Note: Strong new graduates with extensive RN experience in Med-Surg or ICU will be
    considered.

Skills ; Competencies

  • Clinical Acumen: Strong understanding of internal medicine pathology and
    pharmacology.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent bedside manner with the ability to build rapport with an
    older patient demographic.
  • Autonomy: Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions while
    knowing when to consult the physician.

Compensation ; Benefits

Salary: Competitive based on experience : range $ 46.00 to $ 50.00 per hour ).
