Position Summary:

The University of Northern Colorado, School of Nursing is searching for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Nursing, with primary responsibility teaching masters and doctoral students in the family nurse practitioner and emergency nurse practitioner certificate programs.

The UNC School of Nursing graduate family nurse practitioner DNP program and post-Masters ENP certificate programs prepare students in excellence in patient care, leadership, advocacy, and evidence-based translation science. Ideally, the candidate for this position would be able to provide expertise in advanced practice, family and emergency nurse practitioner, theory and clinical courses and engage in service at the community, departmental and university levels. The position requires one day per week of APRN practice, to maintain clinical expertise and mentor students progressing through their clinical coursework.

This tenure-track position expects the faculty member to develop or collaborate on a program of translational or original research synergistic with the emphases of the department or other units on campus, with an expectation of dissemination and engagement in professional activities at the local, regional, national, and international levels.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in nursing
  • Current, unencumbered, CO RN/APRN license (or ability to obtain RN/APRN license in CO)
  • Five years of clinical nursing experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner
  • National board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Evidence of excellence in teaching in nursing
  • Experience with and an interest in innovative, engaged, inclusive teaching methods
  • Knowledgeable about culturally responsive teaching methods and/or clinical practice
  • Clinical experience and expertise in emergency / urgent care settings as an advanced practice family and/or emergency nurse practitioner.
  • National board certification as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner, or eligible to complete board certification within one year of hiring,
  • Evidence of translational research and scholarly activity, including dissemination.

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Compensation for this position includes an approximate salary of $70,953 - $71,118 for a 9-month contract. An additional 1 day/week workload release is provided to maintain APRN practice (average regional compensation for APRN practice $50-70/hour, or an additional $14,400 - $20,160 over the 9-month contract timeframe; compensation is dependent upon experience and practice setting). Additional practice and teaching opportunities over the 3-month summer contract may also be available.
