Job Description and Qualifications

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife to provide specialty medical care within the Division Obstetrics and Gynecology. This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at Froedtert Hospital. The Certified Nurse Midwife works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.

Position Highlights

• Perform gynecological exams
• Educate patients on health, nutrition, and natural family planning
• Perform tests to obtain information about patients’ medical conditions
• Provide full scope prenatal and postpartum care in accordance with ACOG standards
• Counsel expectant mothers on birthing plans, including hospital care, and other plans of care
• Provide emotional care for mothers during birth
• Arrange prenatal planning and care for mothers
• Prepare for birthing by following all health and safety standards
• Coach mother through the birthing process
• Perform deliveries and assist caesareans
• Tend to the health and well-being of both the fetus and mother during the process
• Assist physicians in caring for the mother during complicated births
• Study patient history and health assessments
• Monitor patient postpartum and be available for questions or concerns
• Evaluated quality outcomes for the patients under the care of OB/GYN programs through participation in development of quality indicators and outcomes dashboard
• Staff the mobile clinic
