A hospital-based cardiovascular surgery program in Lansing, Michigan is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner for locum tenens coverage starting February. This role supports cardiac and vascular surgeons and focuses on inpatient floor and CVICU care with no OR responsibilities.

The NP will manage post-op cardiac and vascular patients, participate in ICU and step-down rounding, and support weekend coverage as part of a collaborative CV surgery team. New grads with experience accepted!

What You’ll Do

• Round on CVICU, CVSU, and vascular surgery patients

• Manage post-operative cardiac and vascular patients

• Support discharges and inpatient care coordination

• Collaborate closely with cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons

• Provide weekend and limited call coverage

Patient Volume

• CVICU: ~2–8 patients/day

• CVSU: ~2–5 patients/day (includes discharges)

• Vascular: ~4–10 patients/day

• Weekend census: ~15–30 patients

Schedule & Compensation

• $100–$120/hr

• 4×10-hour day shifts

• Call: 1 in 4 weeks (first call from home)

• 1 weekend shift per month

• Travel covered (flight, hotel, rental, mileage)

Requirements

• Board-certified NP

• Active Michigan NP license (or eligible)

• BLS & ACLS required

• Cardiovascular, cardiothoracic, or surgical inpatient experience

• Clean license and malpractice history
