MultiCare Cancer Institute (MCI) is launching a High-Risk Liver and Pancreas Cancer Screening (HRLPCS) Clinic, designed to identify, evaluate, and longitudinally manage patients at elevated risk for hepatocellular carcinoma and pancreatic cancer. Concurrently, hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgical volume continues to grow, creating increased demand for inpatient rounding, consult coverage, and weekend availability. This position will be approximately 70% clinic and 30% inpatient.
To support this expansion, we are seeking a Surgical Nurse Practitioner or PA-C to serve as a foundational member of this specialty service line at Tacoma General Hospital.
This is a rare opportunity to help build and shape a program while practicing within a highly collaborative, well-resourced cancer institute.
Compensation & Incentives:

Base Salary by Years of Experience
• 0–4 years: $190,270
• 5–9 years: $195,464
• 10+ years: $199,200

Schedule
• 4 × 10-hour shifts
• Call approximately 4 times per month
Position Highlights
• First assist in the operating room approximately 30%
• Conduct and manage outpatient clinic visits •
Provide pre- and post-operative inpatient and outpatient care
• Participate in consult coverage and rounding
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary oncology and surgical team
• Help establish workflows, protocols, and best practices for a new specialty clinic

MultiCare Health System is seeking a Colorectal Surgical Oncology Physician Assistant to join our well-established, thriving and comprehensive practice. Practicing within a National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer (NAPRC)-accredited program, you’ll work alongside colorectal surgeons and oncology teams to deliver personalized, evidence-based, and compassionate
care.Responsibilities
• First assist in surgical procedures and provide perioperative care.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including histories and physical exams.
• Supports surgical oncologists in both inpatient and outpatient settings, contributing to improved access, continuity, and outcomes for oncology patients.
• On call for practice and ER as needed for the practice.
• Independently manages hospital-based care and outpatients.
• Has specialized training or practice focused on surgical oncology, colorectal training preferred.
• Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with colorectal surgical oncologists.
• Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests and imaging.
• Coordinates patient care with other specialties.
• Supervises RN and MAs in the treatment of surgical patients.
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, procedures, and recovery.
• Participate in tumor boards, care conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Document all patient interactions and clinical decisions in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Stay current with best practices, emerging therapies, and clinical guidelines through continuing education and training.
Requirements
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program
• Washington State Physician Assistant license by the time of employment
• DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association

Pay and Benefit Expectations
We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $190,270.00 - $195,464.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
