Job Details

  • Role: Locum Tenens Pediatric Nurse Practitioner / Acute Care Pediatrics
  • Setting: Pediatrics — Acute Care within an FQHC
  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts as needed; estimated 36 hours per week
  • Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts as needed
  • Estimated Hours per Week: 36 (ongoing as needed)
  • Patient Volume: Minimum 18 pediatric patients per day
  • Duration: Per diem, ongoing as needed — California locum tenens NP opportunity
  • Estimated Weekly Salary: $3310-$3930

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of Nurse Practitioner experience in pediatric acute care or similar settings
  • Experience working in Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) required
  • Comfort managing pediatric behavioral health concerns (anxiety) and care coordination
  • Experience with pediatric chronic care management and chronic pain management
  • Active California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license with Furnishing License (Schedules II)
  • Active DEA registration required prior to start date
  • Current BLS certification (AHA preferred)
  • Up-to-date immunizations required for credentialing: Influenza, TB test (within 90 days), MMR, Hep B, Varicella Zoster, Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Ability to close charts within 72 hours and maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Comprehensive CV with employment gaps explained

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide acute and chronic care management to pediatric patients across a broad age range
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat common and complex pediatric conditions, including behavioral health concerns
  • Manage chronic pain and coordinate multidisciplinary care for complex pediatric cases
  • Perform thorough documentation and ensure chart closure within 72 hours of encounters
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, behavioral health specialists, nurses, and care coordinators to deliver comprehensive pediatric care
  • Maintain compliance with FQHC standards, credentialing requirements, and state regulations
