Notice of Sunrise Review and Public Hearing - Licensure of Lactation Consultants
The legislature has requested that the Department of Health (department) consider a sunrise review of a proposal to require licensure of lactation consultants in Washington State.
The full proposal and application documents are posted on the Sunrise web page. On this page, you will also find information on the process and the statutory criteria the department must consider in our review. If you are not familiar with the sunrise process, proposals to regulate a health profession for the first time must be evaluated by the department to determine whether they meet criteria in Chapter 18.120 RCW and are in the public interest. The department makes recommendations to the legislature on these proposals.
The department is holding a public hearing on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, beginning at 1:00 PM at the Department of Health office in Tumwater (directions to hearing location) where you are invited to provide oral or written testimony on the proposal. You may also submit written comments by mail or email until 5:00 on July 8, 2016.
For additional details about the hearing, please see the attached Hearing Notice.
