Greetings, Fellow LHV Chapter Members,

I would like to update you on the progress of our chapter leadership development and put out to you our upcoming program plans.

Rochelle Kepes and I continue in our roles as chapter president and vice president.  Judith Hirsch, past chapter treasurer, whose term ended December 31st is giving time and orientation to Kari White who will take on the role as Acting Treasurer until December 31st 2013.  Aditya Arya’s term as chapter secretary also concluded December 31, 2013 and though he continues to offer time and assistance with website and list server communication, Mary Ellen Ryan has stepped in as Acting Secretary also through December 2013.  In addition, Mary Ellen agreed to form and oversee a nominations committee which will assure that you have candidates in leadership roles going forward.

Many thanks to Aditya and Judith for their time and service to our chapter and with great regard, we offer a hearty welcome to Mary Ellen and Kari!

Though we are a small leadership group without a Program Chair or committee, all agreed to extend beyond their respective roles to organize and conduct at least the one primary program central to our mission as a membership organization, our Annual Membership Meeting which we have held in April for  the last 3 years.  I am happy to announce that this plan is well underway.  The program will include Cocktail Meet and Greet, Business Meeting to include officer and committee annual reports, the presentation of a slate of candidates for upcoming vacancies, and a pharmaceutical sponsored dinner.

We are also coordinating 2 other opportunities for you to come out and connect with your fellow members.

On Wednesday, Feb 27, we will meet up with our Rockland colleagues at Restaurant X in Congers for some networking and a dinner presentation, Medication Monitoring for Opioid Therapy in Pain Management. In early April (date TBA) we hope to offer another general pharmaceutical dinner presentation in a northern location for our members in our chapter’s further reaches.

All four officer positions will be up for reelection for terms beginning Jan. 1, 2014.  While no experience is necessary, leadership, administrative and organizational skills are desirable as well as willingness to serve a 1 or 2 year term of office. Mentoring and support is abundantly available!
