Austin News KVUE to air anti-APRN story Feb. 20 @ 10pm

San Marcos, TX
The Hill Country Nurse Practitioners Association

A news story will air Monday at 10 pm on KVUE (an Austin news outlet) about APRNs practicing as doctors.   According to the commerical, this story is biased against APRNs.  See the video at this link.

Many Austin APRNs have been sending emails to alert KVUE of their displeasure with the content of the segment. If you are dissatified with the preview I'd urge you to contact both the KVUE Director of Sales and the General Manager.  bwilkinson@kvue.com generalmanager@kvue.com

An example email (used by permission):
Dear KVUE,
I was appalled by the preview I viewed of the anti-APRN story that is scheduled to air on Monday. I will watch the newscast and take names of the advertisers. If the story is as biased as the preview, I will contact the advertisers, and encourage my numerous nurse friends, to contact the advertisers to express our displeasure with this histrionic anti-APRN smear campaign.

Dear KVUE,
I was appalled by the preview of the upcoming Defenders segment on Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) that is scheduled to air on Monday night. I thought this kind of fear mongering and reporting was below the bar for KVUE. The preview is obviously biased and anti-APRN. However, my colleagues and I will be watching the newscast intently.  If the story is as biased as the preview suggests you will be hearing from us.
