You might have read this already from AANP’s Government Affairs Update, but I felt this needs to be repeated. We also need to act on this as a unified body.

Current Medicare policy does not allow NPs to certify home health orders. As of right now, NPs have to have a physician sign the certifying orders, even though they are not directly involved with the patient's care. This is a serious burden to patient care!

Go to this link and encourage your members of Congress to support NPs certifying Home Health orders. This will take less than 5 minutes of your time, thanks to AANP’s Advocacy Center.
