Full Practice Bill Filed
February 12, 2019 Tallahassee
Senator Jeff Brandes filed senate legislation today that would enable Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) to practice autonomously after meeting certain requirements. APRNs may also elect to continue to practice under protocol arrangement.
The bill is a joint effort of the Florida Coalition of Advanced Practice Nurses (FLCAPN) and the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). FLANP is an active member of the FLCAPN.
In Addition, on Wednesday February 13th the Florida House will take up the issue in the Health Quality Subcommittee meeting. AANP Vice President of Legislative Affairs, Dr. Tay Kopanos DNP NP-C has been asked to testify to the committee along with Dr. Juan Quintana DNP CRNA.
FLANP will be in attendance at this meeting and continues to employ a professional lobbyist to advocate for these changes.
