Safe Sleep Resources
In the United States each year approximately 3500 infants died from sleep-related deaths. There was a dramatic reduction in these deaths with the Back to Sleep campaign of the early 1990s, but recently there has not been a decline. Many of the risk factors for sleep-related deaths and SIDS are the same. In 2016 the AAP released its most recent recommendations for a safe sleep environment. Children’s Trust Fund in Missouri obtained funding to update its statewide safe infant sleep video. My DNP project was assessing nurses' knowledge and beliefs of infant sleep practices so this topic has been a passion of mine for over a decade. It is my pleasure to share the video with all of you! I welcome you to share this on social media, with colleagues, and with your patients. Feel free to email me with any questions.
