P.A.N.S. stands for Pediatric Acute-Onset of Neuropsychiatric Syndrome

Sudden Onset of Pediatric Psychiatric Symptoms? Check for Strep & Other Common Infections.
Children with an abrupt and dramatic onset of OCD or Restrictive Eating Disorder plus additional symptoms listed below could have PANDAS/PANS and early diagnosis and treatment is vital.

  • Anxiety
  • Deterioration in school performance (handwriting and math)
  • Emotional lability/rages
  • Depression
  • Behavioral regression
  • Urinary frequency or enuresis
  • Tics
  • Sensory or motor abnormalities
  • Sleep disturbances * consider the acute or sub-acute presentation of symptoms
