On Friday, Governor Parson announced that he would be extending the suspension of certain administrative rules that were set to expire today.

Specifically, Executive Order 20-12 provides that the rules relating to geographic proximity in collaborative practice agreements, chart reviews, and the 30-day collaboration period for a new collaborating physician/APRN relationship has been suspended through December 30, 2020. Additionally, APRN's may act as the "attending physician" for hospice cases and order home health services that were only previously able to be prescribed by physicians.

While this is great news for Missouri's NP's, we will continue to push for additional reforms to further eliminate the arbitrary restrictions that are inhibiting patients across Missouri from receiving the high quality, evidence-based care provided by Missouri's nurse practitioners. The suspension of some rules is indicative of their futility, and we are confident that the momentum will continue into the next legislative session. AMNP will continue working diligently with legislators, executive officials, and our nursing colleagues towards the permanent elimination and revocation of rules and statutes that restrict your ability to practice.
