My name is Wendy Thorn, and I am a Family Nurse Practitioner student at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington.  I am working on my doctoral project, titled Knowledge, Beliefs, Use, and Referral of Complementary/Alternative Therapies by Nurse Practitioners in Washington State.  The purpose of the study is to assess Nurse Practitioners' (NPs) knowledge, beliefs, use, and referral of complementary/alternative therapies, investigate the dialogue between NPs and their patients, and identify specific barriers and gaps in knowledge and training of complementary/alternative therapies in Washington State.
