The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) have asked for each state medical board's assistance in sharing guidance with health care practitioners licensed in their state or territory. The guidance includes the latest information and resources to plan and prepare for monkeypox virus outbreaks.

As of June 10, 2022, health officials have confirmed 49 cases of monkeypox in 16 states and DC. As of June 16, 2022, there have been 9 cases in Florida. The guidance document includes updated facts and case counts, resources that can be shared with patients, and assistance with the clinical assessment of a patient with suspected monkeypox.

If you have any questions or suspect a patient may have monkeypox, please report to your county health department contact. Monkeypox testing is available through your county health department for cases meeting testing criteria. If you are unable to reach your county health department, you may also call the Florida Department of Health Epidemiology at (850) 245-4401.
