Our new BANPA President: Dr. Tasha Jones Nelson, DNP, MSN-Ed, AGNP-BC, PMHNP-BC is employed as the DNP Practicum Coordinator and Assistant Nurse Professor at Post University, while working in private practice. She is the Vice President & Co-Founder of Nurse Mentor Consulting Services, Inc., a nonprofit organization. She serves as Vice Chair of Samford University’s Mobile Alumni Association, Treasurer for District IV Alabama State Nurses Association, board member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (Mobile Chapter), and a member of the Gulf Coast Organization for Nursing Leadership.

She received the Community Health Leadership Award (2024) from the Mobile Medical Museum as well as the Dr. MLK Jr. Health & Human Service Award (2024) by People United to Advance the Dream, Inc. Her awards also include the Nurse Practitioner Rising Star (2023) by the Nurse Practitioner Alliance of Alabama, the Health Advocacy Award (2023) by ASNA, a Citation of Excellence Award (2022) by the ASNA, and Samford University’s DNP Research Award on Adolescent Depression among others. Her hobbies include using her influence for mentoring, reforming mental health disparities, and spending time with her family.
