Please consider joining NPI at the Idaho State Capitol on Tuesday, January 27th! There is no cost associated with attending and helping NPI advocate for Idaho NPs and our patients. View the attached agenda ("NPI 2026 Capitol Day Schedule") for more information.
To help you feel prepared and confident, please review the information below outlining logistics, expectations, and plans for the day. Talking Points will be uploaded to this announcement prior to Capitol Day. The Talking Points, as well as the Congressional Visit Debrief Form, will also be available day-of as printed handouts. Please ensure you allow enough time to gather these resources from NPI (who can be found in the Rotunda) at the start of the day.
The Idaho State Capitol is located at:
700 W. Jefferson Street, Boise, ID 83702
Logistics:
Free street parking is available two or three blocks north of the Capitol. However, closer to the Capitol most areas are limited to two-hour meters. Several parking garages are located nearby as well, including:
- Capitol & Main Garage – 770 W. Main Street (entrances on Main & Idaho); very close to the Capitol
- 9th & Main Garage – offers bike facilities (BikeBOI)
- Capitol & Myrtle Garage – located in the downtown core
- 9th & Front Garage – near the Boise Centre
- 10th & Front Garage – also near the Boise Centre

View the above agenda for more information. Please plan to be at the Capitol (we will be meeting in the Rotunda) from about ~8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
A room will be available for personal belongings from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Room WW117.
Throughout the day, participants will have opportunities to observe Senate and House floor sessions, attend committee meetings, and hear from legislative speakers. You may also choose to schedule individual meetings with your legislators. See recommendations and draft email below...

Lunch
Lunch is on your own but starting at 11:45 AM (MT) NPI has space reserved at Eureka! (800 W Idaho St, Boise, ID 83702). Please feel free to stop in, as available, and let Eureka! know you are with Nurse Practitioners of Idaho. They are excited to have us and will assist with combining tables if needed!
Dress Code
Professional attire is required. As representatives of your profession, please refrain from wearing jeans or other casual clothing.
What to Bring
- Water (only drinking fountains will be available at the Capitol)
- Layers (particularly if walking to and from lunch)
What Not to Bring
Please do not bring children or family members.
Professional Demeanor
Please maintain a positive, calm, and professional demeanor throughout the day. Political engagement is a meaningful civic and professional experience and can sometimes be emotionally intense. We encourage you to plan ahead for self-regulation as needed. When engaging with members of the Idaho State Legislature, remember that you are representing NPI, not personal political views.
