PAC - It's Importance!

Below is a copy of an e-mail that was sent out on behalf of the Medical Society of the State of New York today. It is obvious that they continue to spread inaccuracies about the Nurse Practitioner Modernization Act (A4846/S4611). As much as we understand this rhetoric by organized medicine, they continue to amass significant financial resources to thwart efforts to address the ills of the current health system by any profession that is not their own - all in the purported interest of "patient safety."

Let's use this opportunity to truly band together and support The NPA's Political Action Committee (PAC)Our PAC is essential to the success of our legislative agenda and increasing the visibility of NPs with important and influential state elected officials. It enables us to attend a variety of political events and functions across the state. It also allows us to support elected officials, on a bi-partisan basis, who share our commitment to the advancement of the nurse practitioner profession.

You may be aware that just yesterday, California passed a bill in their Senate that would reduce barriers to NP practice in their state. What you may not know is that they face considerable opposition from organized medicine with teams of lobbyists to prevent the bill from passing their House and gaining their Governor's signature.

The opposition we face here in New York is no less serious. Last year it was the NY American College of Emergency Physicians writing their letter of opposition regarding the Nurse Practitioner Modernization Act. Today it is the Medical Society. Undoubtedly, there will be others tomorrow. Let's prepare for success in New York. Please click this link today and support The NPAs PAC. Please consider donating whatever amount you can - no donation is too small!
