Common-sense contraception proposal: Allow pharmacists to prescribe

Advanced Practice Provider Executives, Inc.

Should the scope of practice for pharmacists be expanded to allow prescriptive authority in limited circumstances, or, should this be reserved solely for medical providers--MDs/DOs, PAs, NPs, CNMs, CRNAs, CNSs?

"HB2028 is notable mostly for a proposed amendment that wasn't even adopted. The amendment – by Buehler, a physician – would have allowed pharmacists to prescribe and dispense oral contraceptives, saving thousands of women an unnecessary trip to a health care provider. Currently, only physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and naturopaths may write such prescriptions."
