Professional Achievements:
Recently, I have started accepting newborns onto my panel, a population I was avoiding due to a mix of fear and lack of experience. I am truly enjoying this aspect of family practice now.
I am involved in the process of our practice creating an internship program for new hire NP's which is bound to provide what all new grad NP's need; time to gain experience and exposure, increase their knowledge base, practice with billing/coding, time management and learning their own groove of caring for patients. It's an exciting adventure.
Favorite Thing About My Profession:
Improving the quality of life for my patients through a mix of evidence based and holistic care. Every person is different and what's cookie cutter care for many may not work for some, often requiring an unique approach to meet their goals. Often I feel like a detective, digging deep into health histories, figuring out what has and has not been effective and researching alternative options. When this work improves quality of life, what a great feeling.
Virtues:
I continue to support the "5 Focal Virtues" of compassion, discernment, trustworthiness, integrity, and consciousness daily in the care that I provide.
