PRESENTATIONS •4/3-4/3/2006: Presented thesis research proposal study during poster presentations during the 37th Annual ANNA National Symposium in Nashville, TN: “Diabetic Acute Renal Failure Patients Receiving CVVHDF Treatment: Relationships Among Mortality Risk, Co-morbidities, and Functional Ability”. •7/1999: Presented “Catheter Pinch-Off and Fracture Syndromes: Rare but Lethal Complications with Central Venous Catheters” to staff public health nurses/case managers during a staff meeting at the Minnesota Visiting Nurses’ Association, located in Minneapolis, MN. •2-3/1998: Presented extensive literature review findings and solutions to “Updates with Primary Nursing Model” during Team-Building Days while employed as a staff registered nurse on a General Medicine/Nephrology Unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital, a part of the Mayo Medical Center/Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, MN. •9/1997: Presented “Catheter Pinch-Off and Fracture Syndromes: Rare but Lethal Complications with Central Venous Catheters” to both General Medicine/Nephrology Nurses and during breakfast table rounds during the international nursing conference “Quest for Quality-1997” occurring at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

From March 2001 until 2006, I have held these volunteer RN officer positions consecutively with ANNA SE MN: Legislative Representative, President-Elect, President, and Immediate Past-President. •Active member of the American Association for Kidney Patients, March 2001 thru current date. •Active member of Sigma Theta Tau International Beta-Eta Chapter-at-Large through the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing, November 1995 thru current date. COMMUNITY SERVICE Volunteer family nurse practitioner at the Granville Health Center Free Clinic, serving primarily uninsured and medically underserved Hispanic and African American families, October 2009 thru current date. •Volunteer participant for the “Nightlights: Beacons for Babies” 10K Nighttime Run for the southeast Minnesota Chapter of the March of Dimes, October 7th, 2005. • Volunteer participant for the “Walk for the Cure” for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation southeast Minnesota chapter, September 2003 and September 2004. •Volunteer participant for the southeastern Wisconsin Muscular Dystrophy Association for the Harley-Davidson 100th and the 95th Anniversary Celebration during August 2003 and August 1998, respectively. •Volunteer RN for the Salvation Army’s Free Medical Clinic from June 1997 thru September 1998, October 2001 through September 2002, and September 2003 thru April 2004 (affiliated with the Mayo Clinic/Mayo Medical Center in Rochester, MN). Primarily served Hispanic, Mexican migrant workers, Somali, Bosnian, and Caucasian populations.

Favorite Thing About My Profession:

I thoroughly enjoy the autonomy, independence, and the variety of work that the FNP role provides to the community's health. I also enjoy working independently without direct physician supervision.
