LEADERSHIP ROLE AND IMPLEMENTATION ACTIVITIES

 

  1. Served as the team developed and a curriculum reviewer for the 3-part series curriculum review of the eight modules related to the use of Neuro- Behavioral Therapy (NBT) in epilepsy, psychogenic, nonepileptic seizures including overviews of the conditions, and the evidence base for NBT, clinical vignettes, and a session-by-session review of NBT. The project was conducted in collaboration with the National VA Mind Brain Program to provide training and accreditation for the VA nurses.

 

  1. Currently serves as the MEDVAMC APRN Council Chair 2021-2023

 

  1. She has recently served as the MEDVAMC 1/ 2019-1/2020 APRN Council Secretary responsible for Councils administrative quarterly meeting Minutes, outlining APRN Council's projects, AGENDA forums, and notifications in collaboration with APRN Council's Leadership Team and the Associate Chief for Patient Care

She served as a steering committee five-member APPs taskforce delegated in the review, documentation, and outlining the roles and responsibilities of current APRNs scope of practice here at MEDVAMC, fulfilling the national V.H.A. initiative for APRNs Full Practice Authority (F.P.A.). She actively participated and contributed in the year's duration of discussions and revisions of this FPA APRN document with consultations from the Associate Chief of Patient Services and MEDVAMC Chief of Staff (C.O.S.). The MEDVAMC FPA for APRNs is now in its full implementation since 8/2018.

 

  1. As a clinician-educator, Dr. Magno served as an adjunct American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Ad Hoc Nurse Planner with V.H.A. Employee Educational System (E.E.S.). She led the education program's implementation in response to the 2017 Magnet Needs Assessment Survey for MEDVAMC's APRN professional educational opportunities.

 

  1. In response to this survey, Dr. Magno co-led and chaired the 2018 APRN MEDVAMC Conference focusing on Interprofessional Health Care Collaboration and Evidence-Based Practice attended by at least 50 MEDVAMC nursing and

 

  1. B.P. one of the lead facilitators and presenters in the 2018-2020 RN Transition to Practice Program (RNTTP) Residency program for Evidence-Based Practice, which requires series of module pieces of training and presentations in collaboration with Education Service Line (E.S.L.) and Clinical Practice Office (C.P.O.). She actively leads and coordinates the speaker's assignments, provides guidelines to appropriate resources through ONS VHA website and outlines scheduled module presentations for this E.B.P. module training program.

 

  1. Team Lead/ Change Agent in the MEDVAMC Workgroup for Extended Care Line (ECL) Community Living Center (C.L.C.) Advanced Practice Professionals (APP) in charge of the review, reformat of ECL order sets, review policies, and implementation of revised user-friendly ECL order sets 11/2017

 

  1. Co-developer of the 2018 proposal of non- pharmacologic therapy use in pain management in Long- Term Care using "healing care kit." Facilitated active review and significant revisions of the Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P.s) for non- pharmacological pain management, along with collaboration from Palliative educator and C.L.C. Pain committee members. The ECL executive clinical leadership approved the implementation of this SOP 1/2019.

 

  1. Team Lead/Change Agent in the MEDVAMC Workgroup for HBPC Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and care plan documentation revision to improved and meet Joint Commission Home Care Standard for IDT care plan meetings and documentation. 8/2017.

 

  1. Actively participated in the launch of the first MEDVAMC NP- preceptorship program in collaboration with U.T. Health School of Nursing, 2016. The inter-facility medical center collaboration has expanded as a continuing education program; it opened up opportunities and recruitment of new Advance Practice Professionals (APPs) at MEDVAMC increasing primary providers and access to Veterans in Houston 8/2016- current.

 

  1. They collaborated in other care line activities and community campaigns such as the Stroke Awareness program sponsored by the Neurology care line and Mental Health Care Line in other Stroke Care /Prevention and Suicidal Awareness in partnership with faith-based communities. 9/2017.

 

  1. Led the HBPC Fall committee assisting in the analysis, evaluation, and reports of monthly fall rates and prevention improvement guidelines. She developed the Fall S.O.P.s for the HBPC program 2016. Additionally, created S.O.P.s and screening tool for opioid evaluation and treatment in place following C.D.C. guidelines and MEDVAMC policies and procedures.

 

  1. Chaired and currently Co-chairs the MEDVAMC APRN Research Council, Virtual Journal Club (VJC), a research networking program for continuing education and scholarly activities for nurses and nurse practitioners. She serves in an active role as a mentor in planning, review, and discussing articles presented during each V.J.C. discussion board presentations since 8/2017 ONGOING speaker's assignments, provides guidelines to appropriate resources through ONS VHA website and outlines scheduled module presentations for this E.B.P. module training program

 

  1. Magno actively mentors interdisciplinary team members during clinical rotation of advance practice providers namely: Advance Practice Nursing students, Physician Assistants residents and students, and doctoral nursing students in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program.
