Professional Achievements:
I am a former middle school science teacher and maintain a Texas Board for Educator Certification teaching license in Life/Earth Science. I have been an emergency department nurse for nine years. I've tutored and helped students in need during my years in the classroom. I've obtained my board certifications in emergency and pediatric emergency nursing. I'm a member of the Phi Kappa Theta Honor Society and the University of Texas Honor Society.
Favorite Thing About My Profession:
I of course enjoy the often positive health outcomes that sometimes result from the nurse-patient encounters in the emergency department. As I age and have grown as a nurse, I increasingly enjoy the personal connections I am able to have with patients and their family members. I've grown to realize that what a patient wants is not only for the care given to be excellent but for caring to be shown to them in a genuine way through personal connections. It's not just the time I spend with my patients as a nurse that is necessary, it is time I also spend with them as fellow humans that can be especially meaningful.
Virtues:
I believe that my honesty, compassion, and work ethic have served my former students, my present patients, and my employers in the highest capacity of performance that I am able to provide.
