Bio-sketch & Key Qualifications of Dr. George Markwardt DNP, RN,BC, FNP-C Dr. Markwardt has over 22 years of experience in health care working with rural and underserved populations as a primary care provider and as an undergraduate nurse educator and family health nurse practitioner. Dr. Markwardt has served in a variety of capacities in evaluation of outcomes and assessing impact of various community and agency interventions particularly as they relate to organization and management of community-based services in rural and underrepresented populations. Dr. Markwardt holds a master’s degree as a nurse practitioner from Stony Brook University and a Doctoral Degree of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the Chatham University of Pittsburgh PA (2009) with an emphasis in clinical outcomes. Dr. Markwardt has taught numerous nursing courses and given several public health and community interest presentations. Dr. Markwardt has designed and taught undergraduate nursing and health administration courses analyzing and synthesizing learning theories and principles in adult education and leadership/management. He is well-regarded with respect to his collegiality and interpersonal skills and ability to deliver difficult content in clear and articulate ways to a variety of constituencies. Dr. Markwardt’s experience is diverse to include nursing administration, acute, long term care, primary, and nursing education. He has authored numerous policies, patient education booklets, as well as serving as a clinical preceptor for students from Lemoyne College and Stony Brook University. Dr. Markwardt is owner of Collaborative Healthcare Associates LLC a consulting firm that specializes in distressed healthcare organizations in writing plans of correction, and is an approved provider of New York State mandated infection control training for licensed professionals. His most recent achievement has been serving as vice president of the Mohawk Valley Chapter of the NPA of New York. Dr. Markwardt is educationally and experientially prepared and involved with continuous quality improvement initiatives and serves as a consultant and collaborator.Work History
