Favorite Thing About My Profession:
I am a recent BSN graduate from the University of Wisconsin with a GPA 3.5 Currently, I am pursuing my MSN-FNP candidate at South University in Chandlier, AZ with a GPA of 3.75. I am a people person and relate well wit all socio-economic-ethnic populations. I speak Spanish at an entry level. I have pursued nursing insurance for a short time before I returned to bedside nursing care. I feel that with my MSN-FNP I will be able interact well with patients. My extensive background in a variety of areas of nursing will be an advantage for me to assess, diagnosis, and treatment interventions in the patients plan of care. Nursing has been a career that I have always loved. I always look forward to going to work each day because I learn something new, and see newly identified diseases manifestations, or learn new skills. I look forward to becoming an FNP and restart my career as a nurse practitioner. Virtues:
I am a dedicated nurse who values patient-centered holistic nursing care. I love to teach patients about their disease processes, and want to use my nursing experience, and educational background to care for patients. I am willing to work until all tasks are completed, and patient followup calls are completed at the end of the work day. I strive for excellence in nursing care. I take pride in being precise, accurate, cost effective, patient centered holistic nursing care. I have been told that I am a very compassionate nurse. I have spent the last 8 years providing palliative and hospice care until the recent death my 96 year old mother. Following mother's death, I have provided home health care for two of my friends who had complicated surgical procedures with complications. I have spent months rehabilitating the cervical spinal fusion patient who now walks five miles a day. I effectively managed the profuse stomal lesion working in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic/ Rochester Campus. I helped to provide stoma care until this lesion was completely healed. I have spent ten years working as the Nurse Manager of my church's food pantry nursing clinic. We provide preventative health to the very poorest inner city citizens of Green Bay, WI. We provide free diabetic and hypertensive screening, referrals to the Free Medical Clinic, referrals to social services, referrals for abuse and sexual assault clients. We have a large Hispanic community with many diabetics that have been identified by our screening programs. The physician offices do not have the time to teach them about their hypertension or diabetes. Therefore, I developed diabetic and hypertension educational programs to educate our clientele. I speak elementary Spanish but well enough to communicate with the Hispanic clients who need further education to administer insulin, dietary education, weight control, daily blood sugar testing,&care during sick days I also an a recent BSN graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in May, 2014.
