Professional Achievements:

Private rural health clinic owner in Goodman, MO. 1998-2003.

Deployed to Macedonia and Kosovo 2000-2001served as an OR nurse and ARNP in troop medical clinic. Established woman's health clinic to treat female soldiers deployed with abnormal pap smears, labs, and mammograms and provided follow-up in country.

Served as board member, President, Secretary-ACHE Dental in Anderson,MO to serve children without dental care. 2001-2009. Found dental equipment for two offeratories and set up in the rural clinic I owned. Clinics were established in 5 towns on Southwest MO. A sealant program, floride treatment, education and dental supplies, exams and referral to clinic was provided in local schools encompassing 5 counties. All funded with grants, donations and Medicaid re-imbursement. All employees were paid at comparable wages for the private dental clinics, including dentists. This was not my area of expertise, but the need was so great in my pediatric patients, and the availability of Medicaid providers for dental services so limited, I was asked to be a part of this wonderful ministry. Local dentists felt they would go broke if they had too many Medicaid patients, but God has kept all our clinics open all these years and still all open!!!

Favorite Thing About My Profession:

Providing care for the homeless, or unisured/poverty level working class.  Very rewarding to provide care in our community that would not be provided without the Virginia B. Andes Volunteer community Clinic. The support of the medical resources in Charlotte County, Fl is incredible.

Teaching the clients and staff ways to improve their health and overall well-being.

Virtues:

Compassion for everyone. Heart-broken for those in need. Doing what God has called me to do with my life, and loving it.
