Professional Achievements:
Karen Edmondson, APRN, MSN, CNE, is committed to improving the practice of the nurse educator. While completing her Master’s in Nursing degree at Emory University, Karen discovered a passion and talent for teaching and finds the greatest reward in those “I get it!” moments, where the lights go on and understanding dawns. Currently, a faculty member at Chamberlain College of Nursing, in the on-line RN-BSN Program, Karen’s experience includes educating at many levels, from post-BSN to LPN. As an NLN Certified Nurse Educator, Karen has taught a wide array of content across the nursing curriculum, from Fundamentals to Leadership. Additionally, she served as a clinical educator in staff development in the hospital and in conference workshop settings. Karen’s dedication to her profession is evidenced by her membership in Sigma Theta Tau, The National League for Nursing, the Florida League for Nursing and the Florida Nurse's Association. She works to promote advanced practice nursing, mentorship and preceptorship through her involvement with the Volusia-Flagler Advanced Practice Nursing Council. A lifelong learner as well as instructor, Karen is currently a student herself, pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree along with a Master of Education Degree at the University of North Florida. Karen gives back to her community through the Centering Pregnancy Prenatal Care program where she shares her perinatal/neonatal expertise in an exciting project integrating extensive health education and group support. In addition, she is serving as an intern with the Healthy Start Coalition of Volusia and Flagler Counties, a non-profit organization striving to unite people and resources at the local level in order to meet needs of pregnant women, infants, young children and their families.
