TEAM LEADER, EMERGENCY and TRAUMA SERVICES (9/15-PRESENT)
Provides leadership direction for the Emergency Department with a total of 29 beds and 39,000+ visits. Leader of the ED value stream which has completed 28 rapid improvement events and 4 VSA refreshes. Accountable for establishing the vision and strategic direction of the Emergency and Trauma Services. Serves as coach and mentor for new nursing leaders within the ministry, as well as a mentor for new VSA process owners within the regional network. Responsible for meeting workforce management standards and expenses.
- Successfully implemented LEAN principles and process improvements within the Emergency Departments resulting in >$800,000 in savings
- Improved patient flow and throughput by decreasing admit LOS by 20 min, disposition to discharge by 26 min
- Implemented QED, decreasing median wait times by 30 minutes for ESI level 4 & 5 patients
- Poster Presentation at ENA conference 2016.
- Implemented Code Sepsis response in the ED which led to improving compliance with the 3 hour bundle by 6% and the Sep-1 core measure 9% Implementing ED an RN/MD Team Discharge Approach to Enhance Throughput to Improve Patient Satisfaction.
- Reduced first year RN turnover from 26.7% in 2016 to 0% in 2017, Overall turnover in 2018 8%.
